Restoring Default Settings for the PS3

I know that sometimes there are many issues that can not be fixed through basic troubleshooting methods on the console and sometimes settings can play a role in some of these issues. To be honest it depends on the game and the problem. I have seen this fix many Internet connection issues or issues with the console freezing, improper display, PSN Store download issues and what not this method is rather simple and I have found that not many people know about this. Basically the steps are:
  • Turn on the console (If you can not see the XMB or there are issues with it hold the power button down for 5 seconds until you hear three beeps)
  • Once you are able to get to the menu scroll to the left where the settings section is
  • Select System Settings
  • Scroll down and select Restore Default Settings
  • Once you do this the system will restart and ask you to connect the controller and hit the PS Button
  • Follow the rest of the steps the console gives you and you will be all set

This can usually be a quick fix if you don't want to go through all the menu options and play with them for hours
