Verifying the Integrity of the Game Cache in Steam

Many times for Steam games you will get some error messages or minor performance problems that can be caused by corrupt files for the game on the computer or they could just be missing all together. To ensure that all of these files are correct, not corrupt and actually on your computer you can verify the Integrity of the Game Cache in Steam. Next thing even close to this to ensure it is not the Files for the game is a complete uninstall reinstall of the game. This function is rather similar to most repair utilities that other games can have. In order to perform this you need to:
  1. Open the Steam Client
  2. Under Library right Click on the game you want to perform this function on
  3. In the contextual menu select properties
  4. Once the properties window opens Select the Local Files Tab
  5. Under the Local Files tab you are going to want to Select the button that states "Verify the Integrity of the Game Cache
  6. After this the Steam Client will go through all the files for the selected game and ensure that they are all there and correct/Not Corrupt. Once the verification is complete it will state how many files were downloaded/replaced
